THOMPSON-PAYWE PICTURES. A GREAT ATTRACTION.: A special attraction has been secured by Messrs Thompson and Payne for presentation before their Masterton patrons this evening, viz., Mrs Beeeher Stowe's famous story, "Uncle Tom's Cabin." The picture too kthree years to complete, and cost £SOOO, its .length being 2445 feet. .The many stirring incidents in the book are vividly pourtrayed, the various scenes -having been taken on the exact spots described in Mrs Stowe's work. The scene depicting the escape of Liza across the floating blocks of ice on the Ohio river, half hidden in a blinding snowstorm, is a masterpiece of. cinematography. This picture will only be shown for three nights, and patrons are advised not •to miss the opportunity of seeing- a world-famous story in picture form.. Supporting this great attraction- is a series of dramatic, scenic, industrial and -comic films of exceptional »merit. The.. dramas include "The Message of an Arrow," a fine Indian subject; - "A Millionaire's Adventure," a story full of interest and exciting incidents, and "The Mexican's Faith," i\ splendid study. "Plate Glass Making" and "Lolly Making" are two fine industrial films, while "Scenes in Ceylon" gives one a capital idea of the. beauties of the little island. A very funny lot of comics will be shown. The current programme was shown for the last- time at the Foresters' Hall last evening, and drew a crowded and appreciative audience.
