DISTRICT NEWS.
(From Our O. a Correspondents.) HUKANUI. Mr W. Stoodley was operated on after admission to the Pabiatua Hospital yesterday. Dr. Dawson's report on the patient to-day was that he had passed a good night, and was doing as well as could be expected. Mr T. Avery, of Konini. has purchased Mr J. W. Parker's property on the Hamua Fat. Mr Knight, the local butcher, is negotiating for the lease of Mr Lawson's property on Mowbray's Road. Mr Griffin appears to have got over his operation successfully. He is now to be seen about daily, and hopes to be up to his usual standard of health in a short time. _ The tennis tournament at Mr Idy s yesterday was favoured with fine weather, and was a successful affair. About £4O was collected for the widow and children of the late E. Tucker. Allowances of £5 per month are being made to the widow while the fluid lasts.
