Among those who .passed the matriculation and solicitors'.general knowledge on the entrance scholarship papers in the New Zealand University examinations were Mr Edythe. G. Waddirigfoh,.of Masterton, and Mr T. E. Beard, of Carterton. Mr Sligo, formerly sub-editor of the Manawatu Daily Times, and latterly of the Now Zealand Herald, has been appointed editor of the Pahiafrua Herald, vice Mr Cathro, resigned. A cable- received last night stated that the Right Hon. 1). Lloyd-George, who has.been indisposed, is progressing favourably. The death occurred at the Royal Hotel, Auckland, on Thursday, of Mrs Sarah Eades, widow of the late Mr William Eades, of Wellington. The deceased was the mother of Mrs S. J. Flewellyn (formerly of Masterton and Wellington) and'of Mrs Peter McArdle. Greymouth reports tlie death of two old West Coast pioneers:—Sarah Ann Barnhill, a well-known pioneer of Maori Creek, and also Mrs ' Murdon. aged 84, for a long time a resident of Greymouth., The Hon. G. Fowlds and his two daughters were passengers by the Mantua, which left. Sydney for Auckland on Monday.
