MASTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
j MEETING OF COMMITTEE. I The monthly mooting of the Committee of the Masterton Borough Council, was held last evening, there being^present: His Worship the J. M. Coradine), and Cfs. I J. Prentice, W. Pragnell, T. G. Hoar, ' and F..W-Tempio. ! | Mr Donald Donald wrote, stating thathe had purchased a piece of land adjoining a Borough section, ■which was. secured'for"floodprotective' works ; near" the Waipoua railway bridge, and asking that the Borough bear half the cost of erecting a boundary fence, or as an alternative the writer would buy the Borough section, at a cost of £lO. It was decided to sell the piece of land to Mr 'Donald, subject to the payment of £lO and all costs in "connection with the sale. Harcombe and Donald applied for permission to erect a lean-to shed of' <<?i»rugated iron at the rear of their premises in Perry Street. The applica-tion-was granted. A letter was received from A. D. Gillies, manager of the Borough Abattoirs, applying for an increase in salary, in view of the fact that the work had been greatly increased. The Mayor stated that the right time for. considering such matters was when the Council was drawing up its estimates. He moved that the manager renew his application just before the time when 'the estimates were considered. The motion was carried. Accounts amounting to £832.2s 7d were passed for payment.
