It appears that Earl was engaged laying telegraph cables along a side road, and just as a tram was approaching at a rapid speed he suddenly picked up his shovel and walked across the line, apparently not having heard the tram. The 'motofman pulled up with the greatest possible promptitude, but was unable to stop the car in time, the fender crashing into Earl, carrying him some yards. He was picked up underneath the fore part of the car somewhat badly cut about the face. He was able to get up off the ground after a few minutes, and wanted to walk home, evidently having been dazed by the shock. He was conveyed to the hospital in a car, and upon examination it was found that no bones were broken.
