COMPLIMENTARY NEWSPAPERS (Received Last Night, 9 o'clock.) CAPETOWN, January 16.- - South African newspapers express the opinion that the cricket team visiting Australia is becoming more accustomed to Australian conditions, and they now have a chance of winning the rubber. The South African News considers the match to have been one of the most interesting tests in living memory. The tension maintained throughout, and the nerve and • endurance of both .side's" was most severely tested. The Cape Times states that, the match' stands as a record for many years.., It must have been enervating-" One writer notes thfl aoaystency of the South African batsmen, who hitherto were most inconsistent. He thinks that the complete success of the tour is now assured; though it is too much to expect the team to win the next two tests. The Natal Mercury declares that the South Africans have retrieved their reputation and proved themselves worthy to participate in a triangular tournament. The Advertiser says that the match has given the South Africans an indisputable claim to a place front rank.
