Tlic "Wellington Racing Club has removed tlio disqualifications from all persons who took part, in the unregistered meeting at Greytown about fire years ago. Mr W. E. Bidwill has presented to the Wairarapa Racing Club a series of photographs of scenic beauties at the Tauherenikau racecourse. The gift will prove a valuable addition to the already large collection .at the Club's office. The amount paid to the 'Government by the "Wairarapa Racing Club as taxation on the receipts at the New Year meeting was £371 2s 4d. There are many members .of Parliament who'< arc ever ready to decry horse-racing, but evidently the ' Government benefits financially very considerably through the sporting institutions. W. H. McKay who rode two winners at the recent "Wairarapa meeting will continue race-riding during the 'remainder of the season. He will probably have a mount in the Wellington Cup.; .- Mr Middleton Melrose's team is doing well in Australia. At the Hanging Rock meeting of New Year's Day. he scored wins with Magneto, Advantage and Paris* The withdrawal of Danube from the Wellington Cup has caused a considerable amount of disappointment, as his unbeaten record this season went to show that he had a good chance at Trentham. Miss Mischief, a member of the same stable, and a holder of the New Zealand mile and a half record, is now practically favourite for the Cup.
