♦ A WORTHY DISPLAY. (Received January 13, 12.5 p.ms) LONDON, January 12. The committee which is arranging the, Festival of Empire entertained the Lord Mayor of London (Sir T. Vezey Strong) and Mayors of other municipalities at luncheon.
Mr Frank Lascelles, who is to be master of ceremonies, for the Festival, stated .that a quarter, of a million pounds would be spent in order " to make a worth display. Canada was laying out seventy thousand pounds. Lord Desborough (who was head of the executive of the Olympic sports) was" arranging an Imperial sports pageant,jwhich would include Australia and New. Zealand scenes. Mr Lascelles said he hoped the majority of the performers would be from overseas. Already twelve thousand actors had been enrolled.
