LINCOLN SHEEP, j . The autumn shows held in Master- j ton during recent years have been . ,remarkable for the keen competition J iri the various breeds of. sheep, pariticularly. in Romueys and Lincojns. and-the coming show, to be'held oh -the. magnificent new grounds at Solway 011 February 14th and loth, promises .to be no , exception to the rule. Pavilions have been provided for thebetter exhibition of sheep, and the exhibits, thanks to the cooperation of the Railway Department, will be delivered right on to the Showgrounds. The Lincoln breed (if sheep lis largely s in favour in several parts . jof the North Island, and the' competition between Wairarapa, Hawke's Bay, and West Coast breeders is always very keen. The programme this year comprises fourteen different' classes. A sterling silver cup, valued at twenty-five guineas, has been offered by the proprietors of Lawes' Chemical Co., Ltd., fort-he best ram under 21 months. The cup is to be won three times, but not necessarily in .succession, before it be-,, comes the property of the ' winner.. Last year's winner ■was Mr W. Perry, of "Penrose," and, if reports be correct, Hawke's Bay and other districts will make a determined effort to get a "leg in. 5 .'. Apart- from the coveted cup, gold and silver medals'will be offered- for the champion ram and ewe respectively. Entries close on Saturday, January 28th.
