- Q (From Our J\ a Correspondents.) KUKANUI. Sir Morris, (the popular "Kiwi'.'), our late storekeeper, is at present on a visit to Hukamii. Great sympathy is felt for Mr and Mrs Dowie, late residents of Hukanui, now of Te Kuiti, whose- young son, through blood-poisoning, has had to have one of his legs amputated. Mr Wenham is having a new residence built, the contract being in the hands of an Ashhurst builder. Repairs, painting and additions, to the schoolmaster's residence are about completed. Mr and Mrs Mowbray are at present on a visit to the Hutt. .Heavy rain fell during the early part of Monday. Work in the district seems plentiful. Shearing in the district is about at an end, Haymaking is the order of the clay. • ; CARTERTON Mr J. A. Ordisli will represent the South Wairarapa Methodist Circuit at the Methodist Conference to be held at Christchureh. The Rev. C. H. Standage will attend as Superintendent at the Circuit. At this conference the severance of South Wairarapa from Carterton will be affirmed. The Carterton Circuit will then consist of Carterton, Dalefiekl, Matarawa, Parkvii-e, Waihakeke, Clarevillei Taratahi, and Ponatahi. The following teams will compete in the annual shield competition, of the local Fireßriga3e: No. 1, Captain McKenzie, A. Desmond, P. Reid, R. Canton, H. Hutchinson. No. 2: F. Jackson, C. Lee, J. McIvenzic, J. McGuinness, R. Smith. No. 3: N. and H. McKenzie, G. Masson, D. Byrne, C. AVhyte. The three events to 'be run are manuel engine for five men, disabled hose for five men, and liose, hydrant and union for five men.
