FROM DARUNGHURST GAOL. DARING UNDERTAKING. (Received Last Night, 8.15 o'clock.) SYDNEY, January 11. A sensational escape from the Darlingliurst Gaol took place early this afternoon by two young men named Mace and Denmead, who were under committal on a charge of stealing. After leaving the exercise yard, and after crossing several walls and fencer;, they scaled a gutter and a thirty-foot wall with the assistance of their braces tied together. They dropped into the street, and got clear away. The escape was made in view of a number of people. The first intimation the gaol authorities had of the men missing came from a tram guard, who' saw the escapees running away. One of the 'bystanders watched the climb for liberty, under the impression that enterprising moving picture people had arranged the affair for biograph purposes. Immediately tne authorities discovered that tho men had escaped, all the available police started to hunt. The authorities are confident of recapturing the escapees.
