THE NEW PROVISIONS.

' The Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, which came into operation, on January' Ist last, is having a farreaching, effect. '•" The Mayor said that he regretted that such a step on the part of Cr. Pauling was necessary. Several Councillors present endorsed' the remarks of the Mayor.
Cr. Elliott said that ho had not yet looked into his own position. It might be necessary for him, also, to resizn.'. '
On the motion of the Mayor it was resolved, "That this Council regrets that legislation makes it necessary for Cr. Pauling to resign his seat as a Councillor, an;d that...a of Cr.,Pauling's se'rvicesto the Borough be entered on the minutes."
