ASHBURTON, Last Night

At to-night's ineeting of the Borough Council, Cr. E. Clark forwarded his resignation,: stating that as-he:was a:Director of the;AsHburton Gas :ttnder the Municipal Corporations Act Amendriientii 1910,; he obuld not hold his seat. TEe Mayor and councillors regretted that .the resignation had to.; be accepted, but, at the same time, they will consider any means of restoring Mr Clark to his seat. A motion, was passed drawing the attention of Mr W. Nosworthy, M.P., to what one Councillor called ''absurd laws."
