Eight started in the Juvenile Han- I dicap, and Bronze was made favour- J ite, while Warsong and Sinapis were, also well backed. l Bronze got away' quickly from the- harrier, and although she was headed at the home turn toy : Longwood, raced to the front again, and won by over a length from Sinapis, who finished very fast. . '.■< Only four went out for the Tawaha Hack, and despite Succession's good showing on the previous\day Whitestone, a very moderate performer, was made favourite. Succession got away very badly, and i was a. chain behind .-.-the.'field.'all. the way. Leahora arid Merrie Emerald fought the issue; out until. Whitestone put in a very nice run at the finish and won by -half a length. The stewards held an inquiry ihtb, it. Kiltie Lass and Killaloo led into' the straight, and the latter came away and won by a length and a halfy . In a field of nine,for the'; Pirinoa, .Hack, British .Maid; and Negative: were niost;fancied. -The Blenheim owned Daunton scored by a neck from Astonishment, with British Maid a close third. The concluding event, the Rawiri .Handicap, was looked upon as good for Purakau. He was.in the lead with Bally Shannon for.half a mile, when Merrie Goer raced through ■.•'and won by a., couple 'of lengths in fast time.
