SAD FATALITY.
By Telegraph—Press Association. . WANGANUI, Last . Night. Miss Rebecca Irvine, the third daughter, of Captain, Irvine ,ofCastleeliff, 'was drowned on . Sunday night. She, her sister and a young man ,when returning from church, went to the breakwater, the sister and the. young man sitting down at the top of the breakwater, and the deceased,' as she had done on many 'occasions,, iritimarted her intention of going" to tlie extremity of the structure. When her sister returned home the house was iii darkness, and it was only this morning that the discovery was made that the deceased's. bed had not been occupied. The body was discovered on the beach, a mile away, with a bad bruise on the back of the head. Evidently deceased slipped off the footway and fell on the, rocks.
