MOUNT RUAPEHU.
From, time to time reports;are circulated to the effect >that - Mount Ruapehu has. become active. These reports are, as a rule, produots. of the imagination. The latest rumour is that steam has been seen issuing from a crater in the mountain. This has yet to* be authenticated'/ Ruapehu has been'quiescent for' many years, and, with Ngauruhoe and Tongariro in the neighbourhood, the chances of its becoming active in the immediate future are exceedingly remote. .
