"CAUGHT IN THE ACT."
SHOP-LIFTING IN MASTERTON. Shop-lifting is becoming rife in Masterton, particularly in the busy season. During the Christmas holidays Messrs McLcod and Young, booksellers, whose shop was at times filled With customers, lost quite a number of articles. Some of the culprits were caught in the act of putting things into their pockets without purchasing them, and others.escaped detection. The matter has heew placed in the hands of the police, and more will probably be heard of J it. Messrs McLeod and Young are determined, if possible, to put a stop to the practice of shoplifting.
