IN VANCOUVER. AN ENQUIRY HELD. (Received Last Night, 11.40 o'clock.) OTTAWA, December 30. At Vancouver, an inquiry was held into the influx of Chinese. The evidence disclosed the existence of a Liberal "Patronage" Committee —a body which recommended official appointments to the Ottawa Government. When Collector Bowcll wars suspended, the Committee telegraphed to Ottawa, asking for the reinstatement of a Chinese interpreter, who is also involved. Bowell is a Conservative.
