CO-OPERATIVE BOOT FACTORY.
The Bootmakers' Federation, sitting in Dunedin, has passed, a resolution in" favour of establishing a co-oper-ative boot factory. This is the first step in the direction of co-operation that has been taken by the workers of New Zealand, and the development of the proposal will consequently be watched with considerable interest. It was only recently that Mr G. W. Leadley, a farmer in the South, challenged the workers to embark in industries on their own account, under existing labour conditions. The acceptance of this challenge by the Bootmakers' Federation is prompt and decisive, arid it remains to be seen if the result proves successful.
