AMUSEMENTS.

THOMPSON-PAYNE' PICTURES,

Another excellent programme of moving pictures was submitted by Messrs Thompson and Payne at the Foresters' Hall last- evening, to a crowded audience. Each film was clearly shown, and free from that annoying flicker which spoils so many good pictures. The warm applause accorded to each subject testified to its merit and popularity. Of an excellent budget of dramas' "A Tramp's Story," which is a splendid picture by the Essanay Company, and "The Dawn of Freedom," an extremely interesting study by the Selig Company, were perhaps the best. In each picture the acting was capital, and the photography all that could be desired. A wide range of first-class comedies was submitted, "Davy Jones' Parrot" and "Sandy's Substitute" being "real screamers," the former picture, introducing a very clever bird. Lovers of scenics' are well catered for in "The Canadian Rockies in Winter," "The Bergen Railway," and the manoeuvres of the Italian Army. A clever music hall turn is given by the Omaha trio of acrobats, one of the most accomplished troupes in the world. A number of excellent comics go to make up an enjoyable entertainment. The current programme will be repeated this evening, and there will be a special holiday matinee on Saturday , afternoon. On Saturday night, in addition to the above programme, another 3000' feet will be shown, the pictures including "The Trust Busters," "The Heavenly Twins," "The Spanish Army," and "The Airship Craze."
