BURIED ALIVE

THREE LIVES LOST. OTHERS INJURED. (Received Last Night, 11.30 o'clock.) SYDNEY, December 29. A fall of a thousand tons of earth in a, gravel pit near Moreo, buried a number of men. Three of the men, Staplei'ord, Smith and Savage, were completely buried, and when dug out were found to be dead.
A brother of Staplei'ord, who was also working in the pit, was buried, but dug out badly injured, while the contractor, named Hetrerman, was buried to the neck but escaped with slight injuries.
