THE MASTERTON SEAT.
ANOTHER CANDIDATE PROBABLE. Mr A. H. Herbert, of Eketahuna, who was in Masterton yesterday, informed a representative of the Ago that in all probability he will be a candidate for the Masterton seat at the next General Election in the Opposition" interest. Mr Herbert states that he was approached on the matter by a number of Forty-Mile Bush settlers before he went to England, and gave a partial promise to stand. He points out that fully one-half of the electors in the Masterton electorate now reside in the district extending from Mauriceville to the north, and he has been promised strong support in that end of the district. Mr Herbert is a young and married man, with a thriving busi-. ness in Eketahuna and Pahiatua. He was the first Mayor of Eketahuna, and takes a great interest in municipal matters and in volunteering.
