DAIRY COW COMPETITION.
CONDUCTED BY A. AND - . ASSOCIATION. The results of the dairy cow competition conducted by the Master ton A. and P. Association are now available. For various reasons the- competition was not as successful as was anticipated. One point is allowed for every pound of milk, ten points for each percentage of butter fat, and one point for every ten days over the first fourteen and up to one hundred and twenty days after calving. The results are as follows: ' W. Abbott's Maud (Dalefield), calved September 20ifc, weight of milk 531bs, test 4.2; points awarded, milk 53, percentage of butter fat 41, point for calving 7.5, total 102.5. J W. Abbott's Strawberry (Dalefield) calved September 2nd, 50, 3.8; points, 50, 3.8, 9.3, 97.3. . J. Billington's Jersey Queen (Masterton), calved November 10th,~43, 5.1; points, 43, 51, 2.4, 96.4. J. Hunter's Spriggins (Masterton), calved • August 25th, 43, 4.0; points 43, 40; 10.1, 93.1. '"■ C. Fairbrother's Fairy (Dalefield), calved October 27th, 45, 4.2; points, - .45, '42, 3:8.,. .'90.8. ( The tests were kindly made on December 18th by Mr J. Windle, manager of the Masterton Co-operative .Dairy Factory.
