POTATO BLIGHT.
Irish blight has during the ;;ast j few weeks increased rapidly, espec- J ially in the North Island, and h;:s also been reported from the Nei-:on district, states the Journal of tho Department of Agriculture, for De- ' cember. Early potatoes that \mv \ become badly affected should have the haulms cut off about two incnos above the surface of the grou ul, and burnt. The potatoes should be | allowed to remain in the ground i'or j two or three weeks before being dug. All crops that have not yet developed the blight should be sprayed at once with Bordeaux Mixture, care being taken that both sides of the leaves are thoroughly covered with tho copper-solution.
