The feature or tne Riverton Athletic Society's sports to-day was the presence of Holway, of America, the world's champion professional sprinter, Trembath .(New Zealand), middle distance champion, and McLachlan, the well-known Napier runner. .Holway, who is on a tour of iNew - Zealand,, arrived from Hobart on Monday, and will leave to-morrow morning for Timaru, where he will compete. The weather was very wet for the sports, and as a result the ground was yery heavy. The principal event (l'OOyds Handicap), was Avon by White, from the ten yards mark, with Holway (scratch) second, and Trembath (3yt7s), third. Trembath, starting from 4yds, won the 220 yds with McLaughlin (Byds) second, and Walker (20yds) third. Holway was unplaced. At Balfour on Tuesday,'McLaughlin won the Sheffield Handicap, and the Half Mile.
