Masterton is fortunate m having 'r its midst tradesmen who know how to shoe horses. In other centres they are, apparently, not so Avell circumstanced. .The-wiief -Veterinarian, in his annual report, urges that some measure should be taken for the adequate protection of horseowners by'the-registration ..of shoe-ing-smiths. Mr Reakes rightly says that, where incapable men arc brought into competition with capable, permanent injury is often inflicted upon animals, while the capable and reliable has to bear au undeserved share of the odium cast upon his trade.
