MASTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
COMMITTEE MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Masterton Borough Council was held last evening, there being present—His Worship the Mayor, Mr J. M. Coradine, and Councillors Elliott, Temple, Hoar, Fragnell, Prentice, Morris, and Pauling. An apology for absence was received from Cr. Ewington. The Treasurer reported as follows: —General account, dr, £7858.23 4d; gas account, credit, .£B4O lis lid; library account, credit," £l3 4s; waterworks account, debit, £9 6s 2d; abattoir account, credit, £463 10s; deposit account, credit £371 10s; special drainage, account, credit, £55 lb's9d; Bannister street account, credit, #6B 3s . 8d; loan account, £25,000, debit, £124 0s 9d. On the motion of Cr. Temple, it was decided that two of the loan account? be closed. Accounts amounting to £1587 10s 3d on the general account, and £4Bl Is 2d on the gas account, were passed for payment. It was decided that the seal of the Council be affixed to the agreement With the Fire Board in regard to fire alarms. Messrs Miller and Boyle asked that the Council contribute towards the cost of a boundary fence", .between their property and that of the Council occupied by Mr Peters, near the reservoir.—Mr Miller'waited upon the Council in support of the request.—The Borough Engineer was instructed to report to the Council on the matter.
