THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES. The first of Messrs and Payne's holiday programmes at the Forester*' Hall was greeted with a , packed hojse last evening. It was a programme that further enhanced the firm's reputation for providing only high-class pictures, to suit all tastes. The pinnacle of popularity vsfohyi has been reached by the "T.P." pictures is a well-merited .reward. Of the dramas presented laßt evening, "The Call to Arms" was a picture full of merit. The theme was a capital one, the acting excellent, and the photography all that could be desirei. A popular and thrilling Wild We3t story was that entitled "The Way of the Ked Man." "The Punishment of the Samukai" was a Japanese drama, beautifully, coloured. "The Highlanders" was also a fine study. A picture of particular interest to the sporting tection of the audience was the><(flie showing the last race for the Melbourne Cup. The film displays each feature of the event, taking the crowds on the lawn and grandstand, saddling padddock and flat. The gruelling finish hetween Lomedy King and Trafalgar is vividly presented, and the Cup winner is snapped as he is being led in after the race. It is recognised that the scenic pictures presented by \ Thompson and Payne are of a piccharacter, and those shown last evening were a very interesting series indeed. Of a budget of highclass comics. "Ihe t'eacemaker," "Foolsbead in a Lion's Cage," and "fifcrmer Jenkins' Visit to the TOte City," were the pick. The current programme will be presented again this evening, when there should be another packed house.
