AMUSEMENTS.

THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES. The current - programme at the For ester s'.Hall was screened for, the last" time last evening,- to a goo/i audience, which was lavish in ' its applause of each'picture. This.evening excellent programme will be containing subjects to suit all tastes.* Amongst the dramas is one of the popular American Biograph Company's favourite studies, entitled, "The Arcadian Maid,", which will he found to be an intensely interesting film of exceptional merit. This picture is supported by another powerful drama, "A Woman's Ingratitude," which is beautifully coloured in Pathe's best style. In a rustic drama called "The Hunchback's Secret," are introduced some pretty glimpses of harvesting operations, the film being finely photographed and beautifully tinted. The sportsman is well catered for in a picture showing the race for the last Melbourne Cup, and a capital drama, "The Romance of a Jockey." The programme contains no less . than six comics, all of which are genuinely, funny. The scenic films ivtelude a review of the French Army, Among the Chilluks, and the Promenades of Paris. The programme is certainly one <of the best the firm have ever placed before their patrons. The usual children's free matinee will take place on Saturday afternoon.
