Lnyland-Barratt (L.). 4971 Unionist majority 130 IRELAND. MID-TYRONE. Mr Macghee (Natfßedmondite) 3102 Mr G. Brunskill (U.) 2379 Nationalist majority 723 THE LATEST RETURNS. LIBERALS LEAD BY SIXTY. (Received Last Night, 10.20 o'clock.) LONDON, December 14. The results of the election*-to date are as follow: LIBERALS. Ens'and 174 Scotland 34 Wales 25 Redmondites 60 O'Brienites 7 Total ' 300 UNIONISTS. England - 214 Scotland ■ & Wales 2 Ireland -16 Total ~214 There are 130 further returns to come.
LORD LANSDOWNE'S OPINION.' ELECTIONS INCONCLUSIVE. (Received Last Night, 10.20 o'clock.) LONDON, December 14. Lord speaking at Plymouth, declared that the verdict of the elections was inconclusive. The great political parties were again very nearly evenly balanced. The key to the position was held by two factions who were able to dictate terms to the Ministry. • tfHE REFERENDUM. / CHURCHILL'S SARCASM. (Received Last Night, 10.20 o'clock.) LONDON, December 14. Mr Winston Churchill, speaking at the Isle of Wight, said jthat the Referendum,' ' which the Tories claimed would keep the flies off the meat and teach the canaries to sing "Rule Britannia," was only a fortnight old: I|s proposers had not given the policy the attention which a Parish Council would give to the laying of a drain.
