HASTWELL.
A benefit concert by the llastwell Brass Band and dance held on Friday last, in aid of Mr Edward Larsen, was well atended, and resulted in the substantial sum of £ls 153 being raised to hand over. The weather has been very dry lately, and shearing is nearly finished. A good downpour of rain would be very acceptable. the following children passed at the annual school examination Proficiency—Agnetta Swanson, Lily Kjar, Vivian Gregory, Marjory Thorby. Standard s—lvy Isakaon, Charles Larsen, Cecil; Seymour. Standard 4 Grace Barbs#,* Gladys Kjar, Oliver Halberg, John. Manihera, Roland Weston. Standard 3—Mavis Gregory, Kathleen Gregory, Joseph Campbell. Standard 2—Violet Seymour, Willie Bray. Standard I—Henry Ammundsen, George Ammunduen, Elizabeth Evam, Percy Madsen, Julia Manihera. The school breaks up for its long vacation on Thursday, 15th inat.
