ART IN MASTERTON.
What lias come over the people in Masterton? Have uiey lost all love for the artistic, or are they suffering from an attack of ennui ? During the last few days two very strong musical and dramatic combinations have visited the town, and the audiences on both occasions were most discouraging. That which greeted the Norman-Blitz Company last night was positively disgraceful. The company comprises half-a-dozen artists who would draw full houses in any city. Every member of the company is possessed of sterling musical ability. The entertainment they gave to an empty house—yes, an empty house!—was a genuine treat. They deserved a packed audience, and what did they get? A reception which would have chilled the heart of a stone-mason. Masterton, we are ashamed of you!
