WALTZ FOR A BRIDE.

A cablegram from New York yesterday stated that five hundred spectators had witnessed a "Marathon" waltz, in which the victor won a bride. This is the most up-to-date and approved method of solving the matrimonial problem. A trial of the system might be. made in New Zealand, as a sort of experiment. It would be a relief to many tradespeople, who are at present worried for prizes for every conceivable, kind of sport, if the various athletic bodies were to arrange for brides to be offered for competition. The nominations would be very numerous, particularly if the bride's parents were in affluent circumstances. The difficulty Mould, of course, be in arranging the handicaps.
