WAIRARAPA HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.
MONTHLY MEBEIING. The monthly meeting of the Wairarapa Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held a t noon yesterday, there being present —Messrs E. G. Eton, chairman, T. Moss, W. Moore, A. D. McLeod, R. F. Beetliam, D. Crewe, A. J. Speedy, H. MurrayJackson, W. Fisher, F. H. Kuramer, and J. C. Ewington. Apologias for abßeace were re- j ceivecl from Mesara Cameron, Bennett, Morrison, Welch, Bolton, and] Cornelius. i The Treasurer's statement showed receipts for the month amounting to £6BO 2s lOd. The expenditure for the month, including £SOO progress payment to Messrs Coradine and Whittaker in connection with the Greytown Hospital, amounted to £678 9s lOd. The balance -it date - amounted to £3304 15s lOd, distiibuted as follows -.--Ordinary mainteu- ; ance, £1473 Is Id; building fund account, £l3Bl 14s 9d. The reportd from the various committees working under the Board were submitted. Accounts amounting to £9ll 18s Sd including supplies to the Master B ton Committee £360, Masterton Benevolent Committee £195, and Pahiatua Hospital Committee £193, were passed for payment. The report of the meeting of the Finance Committee was read and adopted. A letter was read from Mr W. C. Buchanan, M.F., stating that til e arrangements for the meeting of the Board's Committee re the proposed home for incurables wera [_in the hands of Dr. Valir.tine. Dr. Valintine wrote, stating that he would advise the Board when he could meet the sub-committee at Greytown. The Department of Agriculture, Commerce, and Tourists forwarded a communication re the admission of patients to ths Go\emment Sanatoria. It was decided that a consumptive patient at the Masterton Hospital Le sent to the vvaikato Sanatorium, the Board guaranteeing the fees. The balance-sheet, as audited, was received from the Audit Office. It was decided that the South Wairarapa and Pahiatua Hospital Committees be requested to furnish the Board with a half-yearly statemant, as had been done in the case of Masterton. Mr McLeod complained that the details from the various local bodies regarding the expenditure during the month were insufficient. He intimated his intention of giving notice of motion on the subject for the next meeting. The present system was, in his opinion, haphazard. S'here should be an uniformity among the local bodies.—The Chairman did not think the Board coulj interfere too much with the operations of the distributing bodies. - Mr McLeod replied that there was no general system of dispensing charitable aid. —Mr Ewington thought that the idea of Mr McLeod was a good one. —The matter was (subsequently dealt with by resolution. Mr D. Crewe moved that it be a recommendation to the various,Hospital'Committees to take such steps as they may consider necessary to reduce the cost of fuel and lighting at the respective Hospitals.—The resolution .was Mr Moore and carried. It was decided that a copy of the Inspector-General's annual report be supplied to each member of the Board.
