A children's a»d adults' plain and fancy dress ball is to be held in the Public Hall on Friday, in aid of the school funds. Given fine weather it will eclipse anything yet held in the district. Great sympathy is felt for Mrs Tucker, whose husband died in Fabiatua Hospital on Monday night. Five young children are left to mourn her loss. 1 understand Messrs Cox and Murrells' mill is to be run in future by Mr K. C. Leach. Mr Udy, of- Hukanui sawmills, has acquired rome maiden bush at Nireaha, and logs are now being carted daily to the mill,|which is now working at full pressure. Mr Burt. vet. chemist, Eke to - buna, performed an operation on one of Mr Mowbray's horses, cutting away a large growth.
