THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES.

A complete change of programme was produced at. the Foresters' Hall last evening to a crowded audience by Messrs Ihcmpson and Payne. There are amongst che new films some splendid reproductions of very fine subjects and those who witnessed the picturej never had a dull moment. There is plenty of variety in the dramatic studies. "Miles ttandish" is a delightful drama of exceptional merit dealing with t';e courtship of Mi'es StandiHh. The applausejt wa3 greeted with testified to its popularity with the audience. A very acceptatle picture was that entitled "Eugene Grande,' adapted from the celebrated romance of Honore de Balzac. "Heart of a Rose" was a particularly good film of the deeply emotional type, the characters in which were well pourrayed. The remainder of the films include some first class dramatic studies, while the educational, travel i and comic (sections have received.that careful attention which has given to the Foresters' Hall the reputation of being one of the foremost picture houses in the Dominion. The programme'will Le repeated 10-right* and to-morrow night,. and_th e children'^!ree matinea Will take place oh Saturday afteihctin. The enterprise displayed by Messrs Thompson and Payne in securing the. pictures depicting: the race for the sculling championship of the world, between Dick Arnst, of New Zealand, and Ernest Barry, of England, has been much appreciated by their patrons, who are eagerly looking forward to the reproduction of this highly interesting film at the Foresters' Hall on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next.
