A feature of yesterday's stock sale at Messrs Abraham and Williams' yards was the very fine lot of empty heifers submitted by Mr T. Quirk, of Konini. They were wel[ drafted, and well selected, and reached the record price, in some instances, of £5 16s. 'lhey were considered the finest lot of heifers ever submitted in Pahiatua, and Mr Quirk was warmly congratulated on their condition. splendid entries are coming to hand for the Mangatainoka sport?, and include nominations from Auckland, Wanganui, Taihape, and Wellington. Yesterday afternoon no less than nominations were received for the 50yds dash. The entries for ail the open events close with the secretary, Mr J. A. Walsh, on Monday evening next. The first game for the President s trophy was played on the local bowling green yesterday, between Messrs Sayers, 4 points, and White-Scott, 12 points, and resulted in a win for the last-named player by one point.
