WELLINGTON WOOL SALES.
SECOND OF THE SERIES. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Limited, report as follows::—The second sale of the series was held this morning, when a total catalogue, comprising ,oyer 8,000 hales, was offered-to a large attendance of buyers. Competition was keen for everything offered. As compared with the November, sales, values ruled about the same level, except that well skirted lines of fleece showing a small appreciation can be quoted. Scoured lots were in good -demand, and values were well maintained. Messrs Levin and Co. report:— The second sale of the current season was held to-day in the Town Hall, when 8250 bales were offered by the various brokers, our offering comprising 1750 bales. The break in the weather during the last fortnight was the cause of the smaller offering compared with the corresponding sale last year. There was again a largo attendance of buyers, and bidding was very spirited. There is not much change to record in prices as compared with the sale on Bth inst., except that best lots of wool met with a demand from American quarters, and medium crossbreds j advanced in sympathy. We sold a I choice parcel of Romney wool beI longing to Messrs Bradey Bros., PahI autanui, at ll£d, and another lot from Mr J. Burton, of Feilding, at the same price. Lambs' wool of medium quality was sold at 9jd, but there was not- much offering. Following is the range of prices:—Halfbred, lOjjrd to 11 jd; superfine crossbred, to Hid; fine crossbred. lOd to lOJd; medium crossbred, 9Jd to 10£ d; coarse crossbred, 8d to Bjjd; i inferior crossbred, 7d to 8d; bellies and pieces, 4d to 7d; locks, 3d to o£d. Prices obtained for Wairarapa clips were as follows:—HWL, Southdown lid; Hudson Gross Keys, 10-Jd; Bushgrove, lid and 9£d; RB over M, 9ijd and 9d ; MM over Waipuna, 9d; Hill-end, 9£d and 83d; AEA, 9jd and B|d; JO over C. On yesterday's wool sale, Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report thus-. —The total offering of the Associated Brokers was 8283 bales, of which we offered 3170, consisting of wool from Wellington, Wairarapa, Marlborough, Manawatu and Wanganui, and sold, all but a very small proportion. There was a large attendance of representative buyers, and exceedingly keen competition resulted. The majority of the wool opened up bright, attractive, and well-grown. Merino met good competition and satisfactory prices. Prices showed an advance of one halfpenny to one penny for wool suitable for America. Other soi'ts were on a par with last sale.
