POULTRY EXPERTS.

MR BROWN'S VISIT, -

Mr J. McCausfani writes as follows to the Wairarapa Age:--It was wi<:h a great deal of surprise when I read your sub-leader on the above subject, in your issue of Saturday, relating to Mr Brown, and in justice to such a painstaking public servant, kindly let me pay a word or two in connection with this matter To anyone who is acquainted with the poultry expert and the characteristics of the man, your accusation of idleness would appear quite ludicrous. In fact, it is quite uncalled for. When fv r Brown visited me on Friday, I, by the way, asked him if he had visited many poultrymen in Masterton, to which he replied in the affirmative, and enumerated at least eight different places. Now, since I have a great deal of faith in the integrity,of thiajman, it makes me wonder how it. is possible shquld be inspired to write an article which is so devoid of authenticity. To you, who within your editoral sanctum day in and day out. I say it would be a revelation as to the good this official is doing, and were you to see this man at his work and see the results, as I and many other more poultrymen have seen, you would be convinced that he is earning a trifle more :han the ordinary table salt, I can assure you it is no light task for me when Mr Brown pays me a visit, for he has had me out in the fowlhouses as late as eleven and twelve o'clock at night. At present I am only in a way, having about 500 birds, but if Mr Brown does as much good for other poultrymen, who are more extensively in the same occU" pation as myself, then I say the country has a man well worthy of the position which he occupies.
