A PROGRESSIVE INSTITUTION.
in the New Zealand j Loan and Mercantile Agency ComI pany, Ltd., are to be congratulated I upon the highly satisfactory report ; AvJiich the Directors are able to pre- | sent this year. The Company, which , is closely identified with the commor- , ciallife and enterprise of the Do- | minion, has passed through the period of anxiety which has followed a s general depression in such a splendid ] manner as to reflect the utmost credit upon the management of the institution. The payment of a dividend of 7$ per cent.j'and the adding of so substantial a sum as £45,000 to the reserve, after providing for other contingencies, is an achievement which at this period can only, be regarded as a monument to the energy and business aptitude of the commercial staff of the Company, as it is a testimony to the marvellous recuperative powers of the Dominion itself.
