AMUSEMENTS.
THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES. No better evidence was required to show the popularity of Messrs Thompson and Payne's pictures than the change of programme at the Foresters' Hall last evening. The new collection eclipses those of the past few weeks, and the general standard of merit is conspicuously high. Dramatic studies are always popular with JMasterton audiences, and a splendid range of subjects £was presented. The best was perhapa the Air.erican JBiograph Company's latest 1 film, "A Victim of Jealousy," which is a powerful emotional drama. "The Little Orphan" is a pathetic drama, which was very popular with the audience. A nautical drama of intense interest is that entited ''The Lighthouse Keeper's Daughter." "Clouds and Sunshine'* was another drama that met with appreciation at the hands of those present. There is a good supply of industrials m the present programme, and films showing the manufacturing of paper, the working of a goldmine in South Africa, and the oyster industry were not only interesting, laut very instructive. The beauty 'spots round Riviera and a picture' of Mount Tatnalpais and the vicinity were t out of the ordinary, run of scenic studies. The comics were genuinely funny, and counterbalanced the pathetic-nature —of the dramas. Kace day at Heliopolas was another good film Jhe current programme will be shown again to-night, and tomorrow will be the usual children's free matinee.
