THE GAMING BILL.
LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL PEKSiSIS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. The Legislative Council today decided to insist on amendments in the Gaming Bill, and managers were appointed to confer with managers of the House of Representatives on the subject. AN AGREEMENT ARRIVED AT. WELLINGTON, Last Night. In the Legislative Council tonight, an agreement which had been come to between the managers of the two Houses, respecting tr.e amendments to the Gaming Bill, was ratified. The alterations made to the Bill are in • the direction of making assurance double sure in regard to bookmakers betting on a racecourse, at the same time avoiding the imposition of a penalty upon private peisons who make bets on a racecourse. The sub-clause relating to preference to Clubs holding one meeting only in any year was altered to read that consideration shall be given by the Commission to the claims of those Clubs.
