MASTERTON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
THE COMING SHOW. Entries for the Masterton Horticultural Society's first summer show closed on Saturday night. The entres—over 200—show that the efforts of the Society are appreciated Competiton in mnay classes will be very keen. In roses and sweet peas specially so. One weakness of our gardens is the want of perennials, practically not a single entry having been received. It is to be hoped that the encouragement given by the Society will cause more attention to he devoted to these lovely flowers. Saturday night's and this morning's'mail are expected to bring numerous outside entries which will a help to make the show one well worthy of the district. In decorative classes the entries are good, there being eight competitors for decorated tables, which are sure to he a great feature. Fancywork is distinctly weak; also children's classes. However, it is the floral section that appeals to the public, and they will be well rewarded by a visit to the show on Wednesday. Members of Committee of the Horticultural Society are reminded thai; full meeting is requested for tonight, to make final arrangements for the show.
