CARTERTON.
A meeting of the Carterton United Friendly Societies' Council take* place on Friday evening next, to deal with matters concerning the proposed combined picnic at Pigeon Bush on Boxing Day. A load of wool from Tupurupuru was brought into the local railway station on Saturday.
The executive of the Pleasant Sunday Afternoon meetings are making special preparations for the meeting to I e held in Victoria Ha!l near the end of the month. A special choir is being orgnised, and the local bras*, band is to be invited to render assistance.
JVir D. T. King, building contractor, is making $ toady progress wit') the erection of the dwelling at South Carterton for Mr J. Uains. Tne building is being erected upon up-to-date lines, and is of handsome design.
for A. Gallon, junr., of Matarawa. who sustained an injury through a crap accident, is making very slow progress, being subject to bad turns, On Saturday there was a little improvement •in his condition, but it will ie tome weeks yet before he bewill be convalescent It is indeed unfortunate, as t e busy season at the farm is at hand.
