WORKERS MUTUAL BENEFIT SOCIETY.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of shareholders 'of the Workers' Mutual Benefit Building Society was held in the secretary's office, Masterion, last evening. A large number of shareholders were present, Mr R. Krahagen being in the chair. The chairman,'in moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, said that the. directors had done their utmost to further the interest of the Society during the past year. He also spoke in flattering terms of the secretary (Mr Hathaway) for the able manner in which he had carried out his duties, which was a great factor in bringing out such a satisfactory result in the year's working of the Society. Messrs A. Gardner, J. W. Gordon, and W. H. Cole, the directors who were retiring by effluxion' of time, were re-elected. Mr G. W. Sellar was elected the shareholder's auditor. After the business of the annual meeting was concluded, a ballot for £3OO, free of interest, was held, and Mr Stephen Tankersley was the successful shareholder. Mr Krahagen informed the share-, holders that an appropriation by sale would be held in a few weeks' time, as the subscription money was coming in very freely. He also reminded those present that a few shares were still to be taken up and that anyone taking up shares now would not have to pay the full value of the shares down on entrance, but by paving '2s per week per share they would be entitled to participate in the appropriations equally with the original shareholders.
