PAHIATUA.
The local bowling team, which recently won the Dixon Challenge Cup, have received no less than five challenges within the last few days from teams representing Woodville, Terrace End, Dannevirke, and Palmerston Kort'.\ The holders of the trophy- the strongest combination in the Club —are practising assiduously and mean to retain the Cup and its accompanying gold badges as long as they can. The following have been elected members of the Pahiatua Howling Club .'-Messrs Bisset, Youreen, White-Scott, Johnson and Longmore. A large nudmber of the Committee of the Pahi'itua-Akitio Agricultural and Pastoral Association, including the Secretary, Mr J. A. Walsh, are visiting the Paln:erston North Show to-morrow. To-morrow will be observed as a holiday here—the Show at Palmerston baing responsible for the temporary closing of the business places.
