THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES. _>o better testimony to the popularity of the Thompson—Payne pictures could be found than the crowded condition of the Foresters' Hall last evening, on the occasion of the weekly change. The programme is replete with the most acceptable type of films, embracing a wide range of subjects. The "star" was undoubtedly "In a Mining District." This magnificent film gave one a splendid idea of life in a mine. The film is one of the most sensational and realistic ever shown by the firm. The audience followed the dramatic studies with the closest attention, loud bursts of applause greeting each. "Plucky Youngsters" was a triumph in coloured cinematography, and together with "Honour Saved" shared popularity with patrons, though "Dr Phantom's Experiences" and "Convincing Evidence" also came in for well-merited praise. Perhaps a better series of comics has never before been seen at the Foresters' Hall. The programme will be repeated this evening. The usual matinee will take place to-morrow afternoon.
