! At a meetirg of the Carterton [ Gun Club, it was decided to hold p i shoot on Thursday next, for a case cf i presented by the local branch of the W.F.C. A . the second prize being 100 Ballistile cartridef<s, presented by Mr M. D. MacGovn. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr vv. Howard Booth for his trophy to be competed for under certain conditions It was decided to purchase a 12-bore gun for .future competition. A fpecial general meetirg of the subscribers to the Public Library ttkes place on Tuesday evening, to nominate and elect two trustees in place of the late Messrs William Booth and Adam Armstrong. The early train north on Friday morning conveyed thirty-four trucks of show stock from the local station. The weight of the bullock at the Wairarapa P. and A. Show was 870lbs, and Mr 1 G. A. Clark, of dhiaruhe, guessed 870£lbs, thereby winning the Singer sewing machine as first prize. Messrs J. and S. Merewood, Carterton, guessed 8(591b5, and Mr P. H. Nathan 8711b?, the last named winning the draw off. The sheep weighed 3181bs. and Messrs A. Luxford. h'jasterfon; McLeod, Martinborough: 'laylor, Grevtown; and G. E. S laden Featherston, all guessed 8191bi, Mr Taylor winning the draw off. The pig has not yet been weighed. The .Carterton branch of the Wairarapa Egg Circle paid out on Saturday £9 .5s 2d for the first consignment. Private Lewis was the successful competitor at the weekly shooting competition under the auspices of the local Territorials on Friday evening.
