N.Z. TENNIS ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON, Last Night. At a mooting of the newly-elected Managemont Committee of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association this evening it was decided, in pursuance of a resolution passed by the general meeting of the association last week, to otl'er the New Zealand championships for the year 1910 to tlie Marlborough Association. The terms and conditions arc that tho New Zealand Association will take all profits or bear all losses in connection with tho meeting, and will allow the Marlborough Association £2 per court for preparation. The Marlborough Association was also informed that the meeting wiil be attended and managed by the secretary of the New Zealand Association. This is a deviation from the terms offered by the Management Committee which went out of office last week. The meeting will take place at Christinas. The Management Committee decided to-night to advertise for a secretary at £SO per annum, with- special allowance's to be arranged by the association.
AUCKLAND RAID. AUCKLAND, Last Night. Tho persons arrested as a result of the police raid on alleged betting houses were before the Court this morning, and were remanded for eight days. The principals and assistants were allowed bail of £SO in respect to each charge, the others £25 each. FIRE IN WELLINGTON. WELLINGTON, Last Night. A lire did considerable damage early'this morning in the sawmill and timber yard leased by Bailey, Austin, and Arcus, from C. T. Price. The flames had a strong hold when discovered. The mill and contents were burnt to the ground, also a valuable stock of dressed timber and joinery. The safe and books were preserved intact. Bailey and tJo. were insured in the Ocean Accident for £SOO on the machinery and £SOO on the stock. The loss is estimated at several hundreds above the insurance. NCAURUHOE ERUPTION. . AUCKLAND, Last Night. The Waiouru correspondent of the Herald telegraphs to-nigh? that Ngauruhoe had been very active all day, emitting more constant and greater volumes of smoke and ashes than since it broke out in March of last year. 1 WELLINGTON CITY LOAN. WELLINGTON, Last Night. The City Council to-night approved of the action of the Mayor in arranging with the A.M.P. Society for the £IOO,OOO loan for the waterworks and £33,000 for the Wadestown tramway. Each loan has a currency of live years, and the rate of interest is 4 per cent.
