AMUSEMENTS.
THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES. I A full houss greeted the change of programme at the Foresters' Hall last night. The series presented was of a varied nature, and proved extremely interesting "A Drop of Water Under the Microscope" showed the methods employed by scientists in their studies of the various animalculae life and germs of disease found in water. These small denizens of the water are magnified to 30 to 40 thousand times, and when shown upon the screen appear an enormous size. "Pafhe'a Weekly Gazette," series two, shows some of the latest events in England and the Continent, including, a demonstration by the Durham coal miners, the International Beauty Competition, the great Brussels fire at the Exhibition, champion trotters at Imcry Park, and the disastrous train collision at Saujoi, in France. The scenic subjects are all good, "A Swiss Mountain Railway Ride" and "Benares" deserving special mention. The dramatic and comic pictures are well up to standard quality. The same programme will b? shown again to-night.
